Continue exploring Kigali's highlights, with opportunities to discover local culture, vibrant neighbourhoods, and craft markets, depending on your interests and available time. After lunch, depart for Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy a scenic drive through Rwanda's beautiful countryside, characterised by rolling green hills, terraced farmland, and picturesque rural communities. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge near the park and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Your guide will provide a briefing on the following day's mountain gorilla trekking adventure. Accommodation: Lodge near Volcanoes National Park Meals: Breakfast and dinner, with lunch depending on the selected package Activities: Kigali city tour, Kigali Genocide Memorial visit and scenic transfer to Musanze Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Gorilla Guardians Village Visit After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers. You will be assigned to a habituated mountain gorilla family and receive instructions on trekking etiquette and safety. Accompanied by experienced park guides and trackers, venture into the forest in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. The trek can take several hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family and the terrain. Once the gorillas are located, enjoy a remarkable opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat for the permitted one-hour viewing period. Watch as they feed, interact, groom one another, and care for their young. This extraordinary encounter is often the highlight of any visit to Rwanda. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, visit the Gorilla Guardians Village, a community-based cultural centre near Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy observing these energetic monkeys as they move through the bamboo vegetation, forage for food, and interact with one another. Golden monkey trekking generally involves a different experience from gorilla trekking, with opportunities to observe their lively behaviour in the forest. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, visit the beautiful Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, nestled among Rwanda's rolling hills and volcanic landscapes. Enjoy spectacular views of the lakes, surrounding green hills, and nearby communities. Depending on local conditions and your preferences, you may enjoy a scenic viewpoint stop, photography, or a short walk in the area. After this relaxing excursion, return to your lodge for dinner and your final overnight stay near Volcanoes National Park.
